Quiet September Day

The summer heat is giving us one last blast today and it is very warm outside. Inside, however we are cool and sassy! Barbara is working on a new flannel quilt out of blue florals from Henry Glass. It is looking good, she should have the last border on today and then onto the long-arm. I hope to take it with me to the Conejo Valley Quilt Show on Oct 2 and 3.

Yesterday, Beach Cities Quilt Guild Philanthropy and the Bobbin Babes Friendship Group combined to work on making quilt kits to give to guild members at the general meeting in October. They had so much fabric out and quilts all over the walls, it looked like a beautiful fabric explosion in the classroom.

Anne Tracy and Lupe Maher working for a good cause!

We will be starting our new UFO Club next Satuday here at the store. Lots of customers have expressed interest in joining, so we should have a good turn-out. Everyone must bring 10 unfinished quilt projects to join, we will list them on a sheet for each person. Then I will pick a number and we will all try to complete the project for that number before the meeting next month. Of course, those who complete their projects will be rewarded!

My friendship group, Material Girls, decided that a project/kit that has not been started does not qualify for UFO status. Only those projects that we have opened and begun cutting or something makes a true UFO. This new guideline really helped me feel better about my stash :).

Here is a picture of the sunset about a week ago in San Clemente off of the pier. Beautiful and so inspiring.

Back In Circulation!

Hi Everyone,

After a very busy summer and having lost my blogging pal, Debbie, I am back on and making a commitment to blog at least 4 to 5 times a week. To my faithful few, I really appologize and hope you will jump back on board with me!

We are enjoying the holiday fabrics that have come in for fall and Christmas. We have several great project models up in the store. One of my favorites, A Winter Dance is a pattern and fabric design by Robyn Pandolph for RJR fabrics.

I used the fusible machine-applique technique, but it would look wonderful as a needle-turn applique also.

We have also updated our website to include some on-line shopping. We have all of our classes available on-line and we have all of Nancy Ota's patterns and some great quilt kits on. I will try to add merchandise frequently to the shopping site.

I hope you have all had a relaxing and fun summer. I know I am ready for cooler weather and holdiay quilts!
